Web Design Trends - 2023
The past year has seen many exciting developments in the world of web design. And in this post, we're here to give you a taste of what's to come in 2023. With links to all the examples. So ready? let's check it!
Bold Typography
One of the design trends that I've started to see more acceptance is bold typography. It is increasingly used to make a statement and grab the attention of users. Bold typography uses large headings or subheadings, exaggerated font sizes, and creative font styles to make a design stand out.
CSS First
In the past, we mainly relied on JavaScript to create a visual effect on the website. But since then, CSS has evolved so much that it can do a lot of complex things that JavaScript couldn't do. 3D transform, filtering and new CSS features like :has selector, container query and cascading levels will unlock many interesting web designs exclusively on CSS.
So, starting this year, we'll see websites relying less on JavaScript for visual effects and using it mostly for logic.
Dark mode/Dark Design
In recent years, dark mode has become an increasingly popular feature on websites and apps. This year is no different and it's no surprise why. Dark mode can be easy on the eyes and also saves battery life on devices with OLED screens. A dark interface can also make a website look modern and professional and be more accessible to users with certain visual impairments.
With all these benefits, dark mode is expected to become a popular trend in web design this year. So consider incorporating dark mode into your designs and discover the benefits for your users.
Video Based Web Design
With the proliferation of high-speed internet, it's easier to embed more multimedia content into your website without worrying too much about performance. Using video as an introduction to your website, as a background, or even to create a visual effect like pseudo-3D using transparent video are great ways to engage your visitors and get your message across effectively.
Three.js
Three.js was and STILL trendy. This year is no exception. If you want to create a stunning visual effect, showcase your products in 3D or create an interactive website. three.js seems to be the default choice. It is easy to use with many modules available, extensive browser support, and a large community where learning resources can be easily found.
