GitHub profiles are a great way to show off your skills and accomplishments. GitHub is constantly adding new features to profiles to make them more useful and appealing to potential employers.

GitHub profiles have a list of your projects and some information about them.

  1. Your bio is a short description of you and what you do. This will show people what you do and who you are. Your profile picture is a picture of you as your professional headshot. This will be the first thing people see when they visit your profile.
  2. Your email, Twitter, website, and projects (pinned repositories) are all ways to communicate with other people.
  3. There are badges you can get that will show your HR manager what kind of Open Source life you lead.
  4. A contribution graph, activity graph, and access to all your collaboration, communication, and code/changes in your contributions are all included with your account.
  5. The timezone, location you live in 👀
  6. Remember to write a custom readme file for your profile! This will help people find you and connect with you more easily.

There has been a shift in how tech recruiters look at resumes. They now look at online profiles, such as on GitHub, to get a better picture of someone's skills and experience. This is because online profiles can show how well someone understands technology and how they can work effectively in a team.

  1. Collaboration
  2. Communication
  3. Other Soft-skills Core-Skills
  4. Documentation/Code/Other Hard Skills
  5. Consistency

All of this, just one link, your github profile.

If you have a cool GitHub profile, companies will come to you for work and are likely to find you through your contributions. 👀

Open source is a great contribution to success. All of the successes I've experienced, all the knowledge I've acquired, and all the skills I've learned are due in part to Open Source.

While GitHub is an excellent resource for tracking your work and sharing project ideas, it is not yet a substitute for a traditional resume. Recruiters prefer resumes that include detailed information about the individual's experiences and skills, rather than relying solely on information stored on GitHub.

There are many places where Open Source software doesn't work well, so it may not be the best option for some companies.
Some people believe that recruiters prefer a summarized list of all your qualifications and skills, rather than a link where they have to search for them.

Recruiters don't have a lot of time to review applications, there are a lot of other candidates just like you who have applied, and if the recruiter takes the time to review all of them, it would be very rare if you received a response within 1 month. Most likely, the team only hires in small numbers, because the technology industry is constantly changing and growing rapidly.

GitHub is not a replacement for your resume, but it can be a helpful tool.
The company provides you with opportunities, some proof of work, some community support, and a place where your code can be seen by others.

What is more important is the learning experience.

Open source software is a type of software that allows its users to see and modify the source code of the software. This allows for greater flexibility and customization of the software, as well as increased transparency and collaboration between developers.

Giving back to open source can give you the experience you need to become a better programmer. This can help you learn faster, and it's always a pleasure to have more experience under your belt.

  • With open source, you can learn how to work well with others and communicate effectively.
  • One way to gain knowledge is by participating in projects that use the same or similar technologies. You can also learn new technologies while contributing to projects.
  • By contributing to popular projects, you can make a significant impact on the community. However, don't get discouraged if you don't get chosen for a popular project; it's important to try different things to find your niche.

Already, a lot has been accomplished that will help you land your first job and grow in your career..

There are many benefits to contributing to open source projects, so it's always a good idea to contribute.
